Celebrate July 4th with Bikes, Rights, and Creative Delights

This Independence Day, we’re celebrating 105 years of women’s national suffrage—and the two-wheeled tool that helped make it happen: the bicycle.

Roll into a day of festivities featuring live music from JOMO, a parade float by artist Bree Angela with riders from The Cycle Effect, our beloved chalk art contest, and the crowd-favorite dog fashion show.

Got a tricked-out cruiser? Enter it in our Art Bike Competition and show off your pedal-powered style.

Enjoy hands-on crafts, games, and activities that explore the intersection of bikes and rights. Snacks and beer will be available for purchase while supplies last—come early, stay late, and ride into history with us.

Cap it all off with an awe-inspiring performance by Cirque Mechanics.

THE PARADE FLOAT CONCEPT:

Get ready to groove with the Monster Circus Band—a vibrant, joy-filled float that transforms Main Street into a rock-and-roll playground. Designed as a mobile stage, this float invites everyone to sing along to classic cover songs and dance with a lively crew of furry, fireworks-themed monsters. It’s a celebration of freedom, friendship, and the shared warmth of community that makes the 4th of July so joyful.

This whimsical float is brought to life through a collaboration between the Town of Frisco, Town of Dillon, Town of Silverthorne, and Breck Create.

THE ARTIST:

Bree Angela is a Textile Artist and Designer based in the Denver area, committed to helping children explore their imaginations through the power of play. Her colorful costumes, creatures and soft biophilic designs create sensory-rich art that encourages exploration and learning, while also connecting children with nature and to the magic of the world around them.

Bree holds a BFA from Pratt Institute in Visual Communications Design, along with certifications in Interior Design, ABA Play Therapy, and the Reggio-Emilia Approach to Early Childhood Education. Her career spans across the fashion and commercial art industries, as well as her work as an Art Educator in inner-city communities. Her unique approach to design integrates her many years of experience working with children and her commitment to making spaces for children beautiful, innovative, and more inclusive; where children of all abilities can thrive and express themselves freely.

Bree Angela designs have garnered international recognition for their ability to create hands-on experiences in museum exhibits. Her recent projects include an interactive toy store and open-ended creativity space, several reading nooks in libraries throughout Colorado, as well as exhibits at the Children’s Museum of Denver and the Denver Art Museum. Bree is focused on expanding her creative vision into more public spaces to help reimagine the ways we educate and design spaces for children.

Breck Create is participating in Civic Season—an annual invitation to explore U.S. history and your place in it—with a county-wide July 4th float and a series of events that highlight creativity, civic engagement, and community connection.

Spanning from Juneteenth to Independence Day, Civic Season encourages us to reflect on the past and imagine how we can help shape the nation’s future.

Check out performances, conversations, and hands-on ways to discover your civic superpower.
