Be a part of the beginning.

Breckenridge Backstage Theater introduces The Great Divide, a new folk inspired original musical that brings the spirit of early Colorado to life. Set against the rugged rise of Breckenridge, this workshop production features local musicians and explores the trials of gold mining, long winters and a nation torn by Civil War. As tensions rise, one truth remains: a house divided against itself cannot stand. Breckenridge and Colorado stake their claim in the shaping of The United States of America.

Brendan O’Hara

Performer + Co-writer

Brendan O’Hara has been performing his entire eventful life. Initially hamming it up for family and participating in community and regional theater, Brendan stepped away from Theater and Film after leaving college in Seattle and stepped on stage with a guitar, keyboard, and vocals hoping to make it big in the biz. Over the past year, abandoning a relentless tour/travel schedule Brendan lucked out and earned a role in the BBT’s production of “Inventing Van Gogh” followed by trying his hand at Sound Design for The BBT’s “Every Christmas Story Ever Told… and then Some!”

So… while co-writing a musical is a jump into the deep end it is a natural progression and an absolute privilege! Having immersed himself in the history of Beautiful Breckenridge and embraced the pioneering spirit once required to survive here- it’s his hope that the songs included in this production honor and embody the hardship, heart, and humility required to shape a community and a nation.
