Students of Summit: Save Our Summers

Old Masonic Hall, Lower Gallery
April 4, 2025 - April 27, 2025

All Ages, ADA Accessible

While the title of this exhibition, is a call to action, it is also a celebration of nature, the natural world and the joy of spending time with those we love.

As we approach spring, many of us are already dreaming of summer. For this year’s student showcase, students from three local schools pondered the question, What do you want to protect?, and came up with the unifying theme of Summer. This exhibition reflects on the importance of summertime. Summer is a time where students can unwind, spend time outdoors or with those they care about to reset and explore. These activities allow them to connect with one another within an environment they deeply care about.

For this presentation, students worked collaboratively to explore these ideas and share their hopes and dreams for this summer and summers of the future.

“I would like to protect the Colorado river because I love rafting in the summertime. The river no longer reaches the ocean because of global warming and drought.”

“One thing I want to protect about my summers is coconuts. My family and I love buying fresh cocos off street vendors in the summertime. One of my favorite memories has to do with my home country and buying fresh cocos with my family in Guatemala”

“I want to protect the lakes so I can go paddleboarding with my mom and sister.”

Join us in celebrating their work and creative expression.
